Reports To Owner Dentist
Education and/or Experience
Minimum high school education with (1) year work experience , Minimum one (1) year experience as dental assistant; preference for certifications in coronal polishing, nitrous oxide, sealant and x-ray; Oklahoma Permit for dental assistant required; Current CPR Certification required.
Basic math, reading and writing, and computer skills are required for all positions at A Better Smile.
The primary function of a Dental Assistant is to assist the Dentist during a variety of treatment procedures and help patients feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment.
The Primary Responsibilities are:
Responsible for monitoring patients at all times while on Nitrous Oxide
Preparing and maintaining dental instruments, supplies and equipment
Collecting and recording patient health histories
Preparation of dental materials, bleaching, crown prep, partials, impression materials, etc.
Patient management during dental procedures
Take and process x-rays
Operatory and instrument infection control
Counsels patients about preventive dental care and nutrition
Secondary Responsibilities are:
Provides direction for other dental specialties, including orthodontics, periodontics and oral surgery
Communicates with patients and suppliers (scheduling appointments, answering telephones
Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
Provide quality service to all patients
Maintain satisfactory attendance record
Maintain confidentiality of all customer and employee information
Cleans office as a team in the area assigned â support co-workers
Physical Requirements
Time spent standing: Frequent and long periods of standing and sitting
Lift (weight): Up to 25 pounds frequency: infrequent
