Dental hygienists' duties include conducting initial patient assessments, providing counsel on oral health and preventive measures, and executing comprehensive teeth cleanings, which entail the elimination of hard and soft deposits such as tartar, plaque, and stains. They also examine patientsâ teeth and gingiva for any abnormalities and record and present these findings to the dentist for further analysis in order to establish an personal, individualized treatment plan. They provide exceptional patient care.

This investment empowers our hygienists to uphold a competitive edge by staying updated with the latest advancements in dental knowledge and practices.

Also â Hygienists have a team of helpers to assist with notes, room turnovers, x-rays, data entry (perio probing) and scheduling patients for their next visit.
Responsibilities
Perform dental hygiene services and procedures, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, fluoride and sealants, root planing and periodontal maintenance in conjunction with accepted professional dental practices and standards.
Complete a thorough assessment of the patient's teeth, bone, and periodontal tissues, and document any abnormalities or suspected conditions.
Oral cancer screening with head and neck examination.
Review the patientâs medical and dental history.
Retrieve and record the patientâs vital signs (blood pressure).
Placement of subgingival, localized delivery of antibiotics.
Customize care to meet the patient's oral health needs.
Educate patients on good oral hygiene techniques.
Assist dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary.
Assist dentists with procedures as needed.
Administering anesthetics to patients.
Apply cavity-prevention treatments, including sealants, fluoride varnish and fluoride rinses, or Silver Diamine fluoride.
Application of bleaching agents.
May assist in temporary restoration placement.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
All of this is completed in a team environment! CLD team members are patient and organized so that they smoothly sort out potential obstacles in a timely manner, creating a calm environment for the patients, the team and yourself!
Qualifications
Certification or Degree from an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
MN Dental Hygienist License.
1-2 years of experience working in a dental practice. New grads are welcome to apply.
Proven dedication to provide high quality, comprehensive dental care.
Ability to comply with safety procedures, rules, and regulations in order to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Strong working knowledge of dental terminology, equipment, and practices.
CPR certified.
Good computer skills.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Attention to detail.
Well-organized and reliable.
Bilingual in Spanish, Somali, Oromo or Hmong a plus.
