This is a fully-digital orthodontic practice staffed by a friendly team that provides stellar patient care and customer service to hundreds of patients. This role would be ideal for a detail-oriented candidate looking for a fast-paced environment within a supportive and communicative team.
Education / Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

Special Requirements/Certifications/Licenses:

Valid New York State Registered Dental Assistant License
CPR/BLS Certificate

Schedule:

This position is 4 weekdays per week from 8:30 am to 5pm with a 30 minute lunch break.

Essential Duties:

Orthodontic Assisting experience
Proficiency with iTero intraoral scanner (preferred)
Willingness to learn 3D printing
Intraoral impressions
Intraoral photos
Archwire removal
Archwire changes
Appliance delivery
Clear aligner delivery
Braces delivery
Appliance removal
Oral Hygiene and Home Care instructions
Developing and implementing best oral hygiene techniques for our patients
Contacts new patients to welcome them to the practice and corresponds with patients who have not been to the practice for a long period of time.
Develops maintenance schedule for equipment and assigns staff maintenance duties.
Records treatment information on the patient's chart, including treatment rendered, the type of treatment planned and the amount of chair time needed for next appointment.
Assists the doctor by passing instruments, aspirating intra‑oral fluids, mixing materials and medicaments during examinations or treatment.
Provides customer service support to patients by escorting them to and from the treatment room and prepping them for care by the doctor.
Exposes, develops, and downloads X-rays.
Prepares all treatment rooms including, but not limited to, set-up, decontamination, sterilization of all instruments, cleaning and restocking.
Maintains cleanliness of the lab and sterilizing area.
Changes all chemical solutions, i.e., disinfectant soaks and sprays, sterilents, ultrasonic, presoak and X‑ray processing.
Reviews patient’s medical history, progress from the previous visit, if applicable, and the scheduled treatment plan with each patient.
Takes impressions for diagnostic and working models.
Ensures lights, units, and automatic processors are turned on prior to the first patient.
Applies non‑aerosol and non‑caustic topical agents.
Inspects patient’s oral cavity and charts lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth.
Cleans hand pieces, vacuum traps, and sharp instruments.
Pours and trims study models.
Monitors incoming and outgoing lab cases.
Orders supplies.
Removes arch wires and ligature ties.
Takes intra‑oral measurements for orthodontic procedures
Seats adjusted retainers or headgears. Check for loose orthodontic bands.
Removes cement excess from supragingival surfaces of teeth.
Sizes stainless steel crowns and bands.
Performs temporary cementation and removal of temporary crowns and orthodontic bands.
Monitors placement and ligation of arch wires.
Places and removes elastic orthodontic separators.
Isolates patient's mouth with NOLA retractor, dry angles and cotton rolls, as needed.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to explain instructions to others with less technical knowledge.
Ability to perform duties related to orthodontic treatment such radiographs, impressions, photography, bonding, and orthodontic monitoring and adjustments.
Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when exposed to stressful situations.
Skilled in the use of standard office equipment including: telephones, calculators, copiers, fax, computers, and computer software (MS Excel, Word, Practice Management software).
Ability to engender trust from the doctors, co-workers, and patients.
Ability to work cooperatively with management, staff, and patients.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks in a timely and independent manner.
Ability to accept constructive criticism.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas competently.
Ability to quickly grasp relevant concepts regarding duties and responsibilities.
Ability to type at 50 words per minute

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week
