Job Description
Open Door Family Medical Center provides health care and wellness programs to individuals and families in need throughout Westchester, Putnam and Ulster Counties. A pioneer Federally Qualified Health Center, Open Door provides more than 300,000 patient visits annually and serves nearly 60,000 individual patients who might not otherwise have access. Open Door is currently seeking a Dental Patient Service Representative for its Ossining, NY location to assist in the provision of dental services.
As an Open Door employee, you would be eligible to participate in Open Door's Retention Bonus Plan, which pays a quarterly bonus of $750, beginning the first quarter following 3 months of employment, as long as you remain an active employee in good standing.
Major Duties: Collect information from patients, including insurance information, money for copays, and contact information to put into eCW, facilitate patient flow by notifying the provider of patients' arrival, being aware of delays, and communicating with patients and clinical staff, respond to inquiries by patients, prospective patients, and visitors in a courteous manner, Provide patients with forms as well as copies of our office policies and legally required documents, Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on provider availability, Process payments from patients for uninsured patients, Check and verify patient insurance eligibility, Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associates degree or administrative certification preferred)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
Superior customer service skills and experience
Previous experience as a receptionist or in a customer service role is a plus
Flexible and solutions driven
Responsive and comfortable working in a fast-paced high accountability environment with different types of providers.
Passionate about providing high-quality care to low-income, under-served residents and those lacking access to health care.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Engage in learning and continuous quality improvement
Strong organizational and time management skills
Outstanding verbal and written communication, with a culturally diverse patient and staff population
