Job Description

SUMMARY
Opportunity to join a well-established state of the art dental specialty office! Our office is an endodontic specialty office. We are seaking someone eager to learn, energetic and enthusiastic to join our team. Previous experience is a plus but not necessary. We are willing to train the right person and will provide paid training on the job.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assisting the dentist during a variety of endodontic treatment procedures
Escort patients from the reception area to their treatment room at the beginning of each appointment and to the handoff at the end of each treatment, ensuring patients are never left alone
Ensure all necessary informed consent forms and treatment plans are signed by the patient
Taking diagnostically acceptable radiographs and intraoral pictures for patients; upload to patient account in Practice Management System
Reviewing and updating patient medical history and taking blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and pulse
Preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment; ensure all equipment is in working order and is maintained per manufacturers recommendations
Perform administrative tasks such as chair-side appointment scheduling, uploading pictures from intraoral camera, downloading documents or pictures from referring doctors, etc. that involve the use of a computer
Document thorough and accurate treatment notes for treatment and procedures at the end of each appointment
Effectively communicate with patients, suppliers/vendors, team members, labs, and referring doctors
Ensure patient information is not compromised or confidentiality violated in accordance with HIPAA
Perform post-operative calls to patients after treatment
Participate in Practice marketing and patient engagement activities such as video creation, group photos, social media posts, community events, patient contests, etc.

SUCCESS METRICS

Consistently positive feedback from patients – verbally, on social media, or in online reviews
Reliable attendance – no more than 3 occurrences of tardiness or unexcused absence per rolling 90-day period
Treatment rooms correctly set up with no more than a 5% rate of error per procedure on a rolling 90-day average
Rate of unpaid claims due to lack of/low quality of documentation or x-ray/intraoral pictures is less than 5% on a rolling 90-day average
Target rate of appointment efficiency is no more than 20% over the scheduled time due to reasons within the Dental Assistant’s control

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

Perform duties in accordance with Practice policies
Maintain a consistent record of predictable and reliable attendance
Follow all verbal and written Dental Assistant protocols and procedures established by the Practice
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor; handle situations with grace and poise
Familiarity with dental terminology needed to effectively communicate with patients and team
Proficiency with intra- and extra-oral photography
Maintain all applicable licenses and ensure all credentialing and CE requirements are met
Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations including OSHA, WC, State Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and the practice’s Human Resource policies

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Two or more years’ experience at a dental office in a similar position preferred but not necessary.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Registered Dental Assistant a plus but not necessary
Valid X-ray certificate
CPR & first aid certificate (must be obtained by no later than 6-months after hire date)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 per week
