Overview: A Dental Assistant (DA) is responsible for helping patients feel welcome and cared for, assisting the Doctor in performing his or her functions efficiently and effectively, and ensuring a comfortable and welcoming experience for each patient.

Responsibilities:
Promote teamwork by assisting all staff members as needed to maintain an environment that runs smoothly. Help front office or hygiene operatories when needed, scanning, insurance breakdowns etc.
Create a positive and memorable experience for every patient.
Prepare operatory based on procedural guidelines and clean each operatory in between patients, including sterilization of instruments, to ensure each patient receives a healthy and safe experience every time they visit.
Prepare patient for treatment by welcoming, connecting with, seating and draping patient. Review patient medical and dental history, making any updates in dental software as needed, making note of any pre-medication needs, allergies and/or medical alerts and proceed accordingly, and asking patient about any concerns they may have.
Review and get signatures on any needed consent forms for all patient treatment procedures and print any needed prescriptions as determined by the Doctor.
Take and record patient blood pressure, take any necessary radiographs and/or intra-oral photographs, saving properly in dental software and copying any x-rays taken for crowns, bridges, implants and extractions into the patient Doc Center.
Appropriately transition patient to the Hygienist or Doctor, giving proper introductions and promoting skill level of the provider.
Offer any comfort items to the patient, set up nitrous oxide as needed and chairside assist the Doctor in all treatment performed.
Assist the Doctor in charting and creating a treatment plan in dental software, prioritizing as recommended, and preemptively communicating treatment plan with Treatment Coordinator, so they can prepare for the financial discussion.
Take any needed impressions or scans, make temporary crowns/bridges, fit permanent crowns/bridges, and remove sutures as needed.
Thoroughly give and explain post op/surgical instructions.
Accurately write up lab sheets, check in received lab cases
Review next day treatment appointments. Make notes of any patients/family with unscheduled treatment or hygiene. Check for pre-medication, allergy alerts, or special patient concerns and share this information in the Morning Huddle.
Make wellness calls for previous day extensive treatment patients, make reactivation calls and unscheduled recall patient calls daily through recall.
Re-stock operatories and contribute to the cleanliness of the lab, sterilization, bathrooms and break rooms as determined by the clinic rotation schedule.
Maintain back office clinical equipment. Repair or call for repairs if needed. Power equipment on at the start of each day and turn equipment off prior to leaving for the day.
Required:- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program- Knowledge of dental anatomy and terminology- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
Highly Preferred:
- Current CPR certification
