Job Description

Dental Hygienist serves as a member of the Dental Health Care Team under supervision of a Dentist by utilizing their knowledge and clinical skills they provide dental hygiene care and instruction to patients throughout our system. Sub-gingival scaling, root planning and curettage. Administration of local anesthesia as required. Oral prophylaxis. Oral hygiene and nutritional instruction. Assist chair side and other areas of dental unit as needed. Performs other remediable tasks delegable under Florida Statutes. Participate in appropriate continuing education in-service training and Performance Improvement Activities. Maintain current license and/or certification. Sterilize instruments and maintains aseptic environment in all areas of patient care. Appoint patients and distribute patient information. Process medical records, process patient data, maintain unit records/logs and patient referrals. Maintain equipment. Utilize management information systems. Insure that the minimal equivalent standards of 2,000 annual visits are completed. Maintain 80% productivity monthly. Completes B&E (billing and encounter) forms within the same day of intervention. Provides accurate and timely documentation in patient charts within the same day of intervention. Performs and completes all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Associate of Arts Degree. Graduate from an approved Program as a Dental Hygienist. Certification of completion from an A.D.A. Accredited School of Dental Hygiene. Active State of Florida Dental Hygienist License. Maintain current CPR certification from the American Heart Association. Certification to administer local anesthesia from state of Florida. Ability to work with diverse patient population and multidiscipline staff. Skill in presenting oral health education and performing dental hygiene procedures.
