Job Description
Introduction
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is currently recruiting for a part-time Dental Hygienist. This position will work approximately 24 hours per week.
MMHI is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. MMHI is an inpatient psychiatric facility, with one outpatient program. MMHI is an integral part of the entire Wisconsin mental health service delivery system. Our overall service delivery goal is to provide specialized services in treatment, research, training and consultation.

Position Summary
As a Dental Hygienist, you will be responsible for providing dental hygiene services to the patients at MMHI including:
performing preventive dentistry procedures
providing assistance to the dentist during examinations and treatment
maintaining dental office equipment, records, and supplies
providing dental health education to patients
Salary Information
The starting pay is between $39.00 and $40.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 06/63.
An add-on of $1.00 per hour may be paid for bilingual skills in Spanish or Arabic.
Job Details
All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a Caregiver background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the facility or medical personnel directed by the facility within 30 days of the start date.
DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates must have:
License or *eligibility for licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the State of Wisconsin (WI) by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. Selected candidate must be licensed by the time of appointment.
Eligibility means those who have finished two (2) years of schooling, have passed the board examination, and are in the process of applying for their licensure as a Dental Hygienist in the State of WI.
Well-qualified candidates will also have one or more of the following:
One or more years of experience as a certified Dental Hygienist.
Experience working in a dental assistant role providing first assist to a dentist for routine extractions and fillings.
Experience using a scheduling system to triage patients appropriately.
Experience with Joint commission regulations and site visits.
Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic. If applicable, the selected candidate will be required to complete a language assessment in order to receive the add-on pay described above.
