Job Description
Position Summary: Assists the dentist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients. Supervises daily operational activities of dental clinical assistants to ensure a smooth flow of patients and an efficient clinical workflow, compliant with all applicable standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Performs all duties of a Dental Assistant as required.
Critical Tasks:
Plans, schedules, and supervises daily work distribution for dental assistants, monitoring staff attendance and work hours.
Coordinates patient inflow and outflow throughout the dental clinic to ensure an effective workflow for staff.
Supervises and reviews completed assignments for adherence with established quality and completion standards.
Reviews performance of assistants and aides and prepares and presents annual performance evaluations.
Identifies and recommends additional training or educational opportunities as appropriate based on assessed staff skills and performance levels.
Supports clinical operations by working closely with Dental Assistants in general dentistry and specialty areas.
Advises Chiefs of any ongoing deficiency issues.
Works with Purchasing to coordinate procurement and distribution of dental supplies. Initiates requisitions for dental supplies to ensure adequate supply levels.
Reviews and completes time records to ensure proper documentation of attendance and leave requests.
Works closely with staff to identify and resolve issues and concerns.
Provides dental assistants with updated policies, practices, and procedures.
Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant required.
Completion of an approved training course for dental assistants may substitute for 1 year of experience.
Current and valid Expanded Function Dental Assistant certificate required.
Current and continuing CPR and First Aide training and certifications required.
Demonstrates ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
