Lead Dental Assistant
Job Summary:Milwaukee Health Services, Inc. (MHSI) is seeking a Lead Dental Assistant to join our dedicated team at the Isaac Coggs Heritage Health Connection and MLK Heritage Health Center. As a Federally Qualified Community Health Center, we provide comprehensive healthcare services to all individuals, irrespective of income or insurance coverage. The Lead Dental Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality dental care to our patients.
Responsibilities:- Greet all patients and team members with a cheerful outlook and demeanor. Address patient needs to ensure a superior experience. Display empathy, actively listen, and communicate clearly and effectively.- Responsible for ensuring operatories and dental equipment are working properly, and supplies are available for all scheduled procedures. Ensures that dental support staff reviews patient electronic record 48-72 hours prior to the patients' appointment to ensure that the office is prepared for the patient's appointment.- Works collectively with the dentist and other staff for the coordination of quality, compassionate and customer friendly dental care, informs scheduled patients of any delays due to emergencies, schedule backups, etc.- Responsible for ensuring that all patients are guided through the treatment process before treatment begins, educates in oral hygiene instruction, and provides postoperative instructions. Establishes reason for visit and instruct patient in the preparation for dentist's examination.- Responsible for assisting with various prosthetic and restorative procedures to include impressions, evacuations, retraction, cementation, and homeostasis. Assist with the mixing of diverse types of materials, dispense, set-up. Assist patients in need of help, i.e. handicapped, pediatric, elderly, etc. Works with the dental team in optimizing the efficiency of the office to improve service to patients by building teamwork and assisting with the facilitation of department huddles.- Responsible for monitoring proper infection control techniques and performs daily/weekly and monthly infection control procedures and logs findings. Responsible for confirming that Dental Assistant staff are knowledgeable regarding the department's required infection control monitoring.- Provides backup for the back-office staff as needed and when requested at all MHSI locations.- Completes expanded duties skill checklist during probationary period.
Experience:- Three to five years' experience as a dental assistant in a dental office setting. Background experience in insurance regulations, dental procedure/surgery scheduling, and dental terminology and triaging helpful. Basic computer skills. Excellent people skills, empathy, and tact, when dealing with insurance companies, patients, and other health care facilities. Must be willing and able to assume the responsibilities delegated by the dental manager, to provide efficient and effective coordination of care. Must be willing to adapt to changing situations and circumstances. Requires effective communication, organization, and multitasking skills.- Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems- Knowledge of general dentistry procedures, endodontics, medical documentation, and medical imaging- Previous experience in a leadership role within a dental setting is preferred

Pay: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour
