HCHC is a dynamic community health center that offers a health care delivery environment that ensures all members of our community have access to high quality primary care, dental, and behavioral health services. We also provide medication assistance support to ensure our patients have access to the lowest cost for their medications, transportation assistance to and from appointments if needed, community resource connections to close gaps with social determinants of care, integrated care models including targeted chronic disease management support with our pharmacy team and much more. We assist patients in getting access to Medicaid as well as other insurance options using trained professional staff who serve in these roles. The Senior Dental Assistant assists the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of primary care dental services to patients of the Health Center. The Senior Dental Assistant is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies.
The Senior Dental Assistant will assist the DOC in the following duties: Supply management, training new dental assistants, managing weekly/monthly maintenance checklist, autoclave maintenance and biological monitoring, and tracking expiration calendar. The Senior Dental Assistance will also serve as a subject matter expert during patient care hours to all dental assistants.
The Senior Dental Assistant position requires a comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry. Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling and applications is required. The Senior Dental Assistant must be cognizant of the expectations and concerns of the Health Centerââ¬â¢s dental patients and be able to respond in an empathetic and professional manner. The ability to work with persons from a wide diversity of social, ethnic and economic backgrounds in necessary. The Senior Dental Assistant must be able to creatively work with other health care professionals from a variety of disciplines to achieve maximal results for the Centerââ¬â¢s patient from a system of integrated primary health care. This individual is authorized to work in any HRSA approved site within the scope of HCHC. Requirements:
High school diploma or GED Certificate
At least 2 years of Dental Assisting experience required
Understanding of dental scheduling
Previous customer service skills
Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting required
Ability to attend to multiple tasks at the same time and to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols
Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required
Current CPR (BLS) is required
