Job Function
The Dental Hygiene full-time faculty member will participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the strategic plan of the program and college. Faculty work in a fast paced, multi-cultural, diverse working environment.
Job Responsibilities
Develop course curriculum, assessments, and restructuring.
Participation in continual assessment and course updates to ensure excellence in meeting program and student learning outcomes.
Participate in accreditation preparation and review.
Dental Hygiene instruction in laboratory, classroom, and clinical settings, for both day and/or evening hours.
Student assessment.
Classroom management.
Responsibility for equipment, materials, and supplies.
Participation in dental hygiene program activities.
Student mentoring.
Student academic advisement.
College committee assignments.
Communicate effectively.
Commitment to professional learning and growth, and service to the profession.
Remain current in the use of technology, developments within the field of dentistry.
Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technologies to meet the learning needs of a diverse student population.
Maintain office hours to meet with students outside of the classroom.
Engage collaboratively and professionally with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the successful achievement of student learning outcomes.
Engage students to think critically while participating in the learning process.
Demonstrate a strong commitment to lifelong learning and the ability to remain current in dental hygiene and its instructional program.
Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of faculty, staff, students, and patients.
Implement assessment strategies for college and program student learning outcomes.
Advise and support adjunct faculty to ensure consistent standards and instructional practices within each course.
Education
Dental Hygiene Associates Degree AND Masterââ¬â¢s Degree in Dental Hygiene, Education, Public Health or related discipline required.
Qualifications
PRELIMINARY QUALIFICATIONS: Five yearsââ¬â¢ experience as a clinical Registered Dental Hygienist required. The successful candidate must possess or be eligible for Michigan dental hygiene licensure, dental hygiene local anesthesia and nitrous oxide analgesia licensure, and CPR certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two to three years of clinical or didactic teaching experience in a dental hygiene educational program. Preference will be given to those with clinical and didactic teaching experience.
