Job Description
Part-Time Dental Assistant
Purpose: To provide assistance to the dentist in the direct treatment of patients.
Essential Functions:
Preparing and maintaining treatment rooms and equipment; including cleaning and sterilizing instruments and burs, setting up trays, and cleaning treatment rooms.
Assisting the dentist in the treatment of patients.
Capturing and handling digital radiographs.
Preparing impressions and/or study models; coordinating all aspects of lab cases.
Maintaining the stock of all treatment rooms.
Representing the practice in a professional manner, focusing on the needs of the patients.
Working respectfully and cooperatively with management, co-workers, patients, and vendors.
Calling/contacting patients to schedule outstanding treatment.
Handling digital clinical records and maintain HIPAA compliance.
Maintaining OSHA standards and guidelines.
Handling any other duties assigned.
Objectives:
To assure the smooth transition for patients during their visits; and from patient to patient throughout the work day.
To assure the quality and safety of all equipment, instruments, and burs.
To support the dentist and fellow clinical staff in providing an outstanding treatment experience to patients.
To assure treatment rooms are sterile and prepared for use.
To represent the practice to patients in a professional, friendly, and caring manner.
Measured By:
The review of treatment rooms.
The review of instruments and burs to assure quality sterilization.
The competent and efficient completion of tasks.
Observation from the dentist and management.
Feedback from patients and coworkers.
Minimum Education:
A high school diploma. Post-high school courses in a dental or medical related area preferred but not required. Certification in dental assisting with Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) certification preferred but not required.
Minimum Experience:
One year of Dental Assisting experience required.

Minimum Physical Expectations:
Physical activity that sometimes involves keyboarding, sitting, phone work, and filing.

Physical activity that sometimes requires lifting under 25 pounds and standing for extended periods of time.
Physical activity that often requires bending, stooping, reaching and/or twisting.
Minimum Environment Expectations:
Physical activity that often requires exposure to loud noises that do not require ear plugs.
Physical activity that often requires exposure to hazardous materials involved in a dental practice, including blood borne pathogens.
Physical activity that often requires exposure to radio active materials used for dental radiographs (x-rays).
Pay Range: $18-20 dependent upon relevant experience
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 22 ââ¬â 26 per week
