Position: Adult Education Teacher for Dental Assistant Training Cohort
Location: Troy Learning Center (1522 E. Big Beaver, Troy, MI 48085) and Virtual
Reports to: Troy Continuing Education Supervisor
Salary: $25.15-$32.78/Hour, Non-Rep Employee

Schedule: 6 hours; onsite Thursday 6-9:15pm, rest of hours virtual student support

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated ESL Instructor with ability to teach ESP curriculum: allied health, specifically the dental office environment. This role focuses on delivering tailored English language instruction to adult learners pursuing Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) certification and careers as dental assistants. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in language teaching and dental terminology/office practices to prepare students for effective communication in a dental office setting.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelorââ¬â¢s or Masterââ¬â¢s degree in TESOL, Education, or a related field. Candidates with dental assisting or allied
health certifications are encouraged to apply.
Teaching Experience: Proven experience teaching adult ESL learners; prior experience teaching English for Specific
Purposes (ESP) or workplace-focused language programs is highly desirable.
Cultural Competence: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural and linguistic
backgrounds.
Technology Skills: Proficiency with educational tools and platforms, including multimedia resources, Learning Management
Systems (LMS), and virtual teaching tools.
Responsibilities:
Language Instruction: Implement English for Specific Purposes (ESP) curriculum with a focus on dental office terminology,
patient communication, and related skills. Deliver engaging and interactive ESL instruction that incorporates vocabulary, communication scenarios, and practical exercises relevant to allied healthcare and dental settings.
Lesson Delivery: Facilitate learning through diverse methods such as role-plays, case studies, group discussions, and
simulations to enhance students' confidence and fluency in professional environments.
Progress Monitoring: Regularly evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adapt instruction to meet
individualized learning needs.
Cultural Sensitivity: Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect for linguistic and cultural diversity,
ensuring students feel supported in their professional and language development journey.
Student Support: Offer one-on-one assistance, as needed, to address unique learning challenges and ensure students
achieve their language and career goals.
