Job Overview
The Dental Assistant is primarily responsible for preparing treatment rooms and providing support to patients and assisting the dentists with a variety of treatment procedures.

Department Name: HP Dentistry Job Status: Full-Time; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits Shift: M - Th 8am - 5pm; F 8am - 4pm and rotating Saturdays (about 1 shift/month) 8am - 1pm
Qualifications
EDUCATION ââ¬â High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant certification program.
EXPERIENCE ââ¬â No experience required
EQUIVALENCY ââ¬â Five years of chair side dental assistant experience may substitute for graduation from a Dental Assistant certification program.
CERTIFICATION(S) ââ¬â State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Surgical Assistant or Surgical Tech Registration; CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare providers

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
Utilizes the electronic dental record and digital radiography
Prepares treatment room for patient by following the day sheet treatment plan.
Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating and draping patients.
Sterilizes and prepares instruments, equipment and materials at the chair-side for dentistââ¬â¢s access.
Takes radiographs and mounts to the chart using digital radiography procedures and equipment.
Performs pediatric prophylaxis including providing patients and parent with oral hygiene instruction and demonstration.
Assists in dental emergencies that occur in the clinic by preparing treatment room, and ensuring accessibility of instruments, equipment and materials during procedures. Anticipates instruments needed by dentists throughout the procedure and ensures timely access of instruments.
Updates patient health history, patient chart and other patient documentation.
Complies with OSHA regulations, infection control protocols, CHCO patient safety policies, Joint Commission regulations, National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), and QSRS filing.
Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories and completing training on new equipment.
Performs a rotation through the simulation lab and participates in emergency code drills in preparation for medical emergencies.
Monitors dental supply inventory and reports supply needs to appropriate staff member.
Actively participates in daily huddle
Assists in sedation and PC/OR procedures, with supervision

Salary Information Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $40,281.66 to $60,422.48 Hourly Salary Range: $19.37 to $29.05
