Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dental Assistant Team Leader is responsible for leading the Dental Assistants in an enthusiastic and positive manner by providing guidance in regards to dental assisting operations. The Dental Assistant Team Leader is also responsible for setting up exam rooms, assisting the clinicians and preparing the patients for examination. This position reports to and is under the general direction of the Dental Center Manager.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Lead the Dental Assistant Team by providing guidance in regards to the Dental Assistant job duties
Prepare Dental Assistant schedules, complete time sheets and coordinate assignments of daily duties
Implement, monitor and assure adherence to CMC Standardized Best Practices.
Ensure all quality control requirements are completed as stated in policies.
Ensure ordering expendable supplies and are completed in a timely fashion and all exam rooms are stocked and ready for use.
Assist in maintaining efficient patient flow
Knowledge of and performance of all RDA duties.
Ability to work independently with minimum of supervision and to take direction from different clinicians
Function as part of a team in the provision of patient care and performance of daily activities
Assist provider with patients and patient telephone calls
Assist with ordering and maintaining supplies and storage room, checking for expiration dates as applicable
Monitor dental equipment for proper function and report any suspect equipment to the Dental Center Manager
Provides feedback to Dental Center Manager in regards to Dental Assistant work performance for completion of performance evaluations and/or other work performance issues.
Participates in the Dental Assistant performance evaluation delivery process with the Dental Manager
Reviews time cards independently or in conjunction with Dental Manager

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Two years of direct experience in a health care setting in a medical back office clinical capacity.
Electronic Dental Records knowledge
Completion of Dental Assistant training program
Registered Dental Assistant CA professional license
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively in English; verbal and written
Current certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation or ability to obtain certificate
Valid CA Driver's License, proof of automobile insurance, and personal transportation

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of Dental practice and care to assist in giving patient care
Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
Knowledge of dental equipment and instruments to administer patient care
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments
Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public
Ability to maintain quality control standards
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
Ability to communicate clearly
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking for long periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds. Vision must be correctable to 20/40 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Requires exposure to communicable disease and bodily fluids. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, dental preparations and other conditions common to a dental environment.
