Dental Receptionist
LOCATION: San Andreas, California
POSITION TITLE: Dental Front Office Receptionist
STATUS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SALARY RANGE: $23.56-$26.56, Hourly
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a general statement of duties and responsibilities for the position of receptionist that will work directly under the dental department and provide support services to the finance department of MACT Health Board. The incumbent functions under general supervision and requires very little guidance in the performance of those duties.
The position requires and awareness and keen appreciation of Native American traditions, customs, socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian Health organizations which may require tact, courtesy, discretion and good judgment in handling sensitive material.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receives screens and refers all phone calls to designated staff.
2. Adheres to the Privacy Act as outlines by Federal or State law.
3. Maintains appointments for scheduling, cancelling or reappointing patients for dental services.
4. Assists all callers in a professional and courteous manner.
5. Assures and assists that all patient information is accurate and up to date.
6. Maintains logs of outside referrals and logs of lab cases.
7. Makes referral appointments as necessary under organizational guidelines.
8. Checks patient insurance information and can calculate treatment estimates.
9. Informs and collects copays, fees or any charges due. Processes credit cards, care credits or any other payment type and provides receipts.
10. Works directly with the Finance department in determination of patient financial obligations/responsibilities.
11. Orders and maintains clerical supplies.
12. Maintains cash box and safely handles all financial transactions in the manner dictated by MACT Health Board.
13. Coordinates referrals to other departments within the MACT Health Board organization.
14. Performs any clerical tasks as outlined by the Dental Director or the Dentist Site Manager.
15. Must adhere to MACT Health Boards Corporate Code of Conduct.
16. Any other duties as assigned by the Dental Director or the Dentist Site Manager.
17. Utilizes Next Gen and QSI computer software. Performs functions with additional computer software, email and other computer based products.
18. Understands and follows all HIPPA guidelines.
19. Comply with all MACT policies and procedures.
20. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
2. Must have a minimum of one year working as a dental receptionist experience.
3. Must have an extensive knowledge of dental procedures, nomenclature, coding and scheduling for multi provider dental offices.
4. Must have excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new programs quickly and efficiently.
5. Must be able to multitask.
6. Must have excellent people skills.
7. Must be punctual and be able to work full time.
8. Must have a working knowledge of dental billing and insurances.
9. Must be able to work independently
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
2. Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.
3. Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).
