Job Summary
The Supervising Dentist will supervise dental program students during clinical procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.
Clinical Supervision:
Provide direct clinical supervision to dental program students during patient care.
Ensure students adhere to clinical protocols and maintain high standards of patient care.
Conduct regular assessments of clinical competencies and skills development.
Address any issues related to infection control and safety in the clinical setting.
Offer guidance on patient interaction and communication skills.
Review and evaluate students' clinical performance and provide constructive feedback.
Monitor students' adherence to ethical and professional standards in patient care.
Demonstrate the NTC Core Abilities and Standards of Teaching Excellence in the delivery of instruction
Curriculum Development:
Collaborate with faculty to integrate clinical experiences into the dental hygiene curriculum.
Assist in the implementation of practical, hands-on learning opportunities for students.
Incorporate industry advancements and evidence-based practices into clinical education.
Supports and implements assessment tools for evaluating clinical proficiency.
Clinical Protocols and Procedures:
Ensure students understand and follow established clinical protocols and procedures.
Maintain clinical guidelines to align with industry best practices.
Monitor compliance with safety regulations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Student Mentorship:
Act as a mentor to dental program students.
Provide guidance on professional growth.
Assist students in navigating challenges related to clinical experiences.
Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for students.
Quality Assurance:
Implement quality assurance measures to ensure program effectiveness.
Conduct periodic assessments of student clinical work, program outcomes, and student performance.
Collaborate with accreditation bodies to maintain program accreditation.
Implement evidence-based practices to enhance the quality of education.
Community Engagement:
Foster partnerships with local dental clinics and healthcare facilities.
Facilitate community outreach programs to promote oral health awareness.
Encourage student participation in community service activities.
Establish and maintain relationships with industry professionals for potential collaborations.
Minimum Qualifications Required
In limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Professional Degree
DDS/DMD; Current license, active and unrestricted, to practice Dentistry in the state of WI Graduate of an accredited dental school through the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
Experience: 2 Years
Additional Experience Information:
Clinical knowledge to practice comprehensive dentistry, including diagnosis and treatment of oral health issues.
Must have at least two (2) years of full-time or equivalent of clinical experience in dentistry.
Current in CPR
