Job Summary:
The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) serves the public and profession by development and implementing accreditation standards that promote and monitor continuous quality and improvement of dental education programs.
The Vice-president, CODA provides leadership and strategic vision/direction through ongoing development and maintenance of the Commission as the authority on dental accreditation in the U.S. and internationally; providing operational and fiscal oversight of the agency; development of policies and procedures for the accreditation program; analysis of the data submitted annually by educational programs to identify and communicate trends and innovations in dental and allied dental education, curriculum, outcomes, and assessment; analysis of trends and innovations in dental practice and the potential ramifications for dental education/accreditation; overseeing regulatory compliance with the US Department of Education; development and maintenance of ongoing robust communication with, and serving as a resource to, the agencyââ¬â¢s broad communities of interest; and establishing and maintaining a culture focused on customer service and continuous quality improvement with the agency.
Must Have:
DDS/DMD from CODA-accredited dental education program or Canada accredited dental education program
Minimum 15 years of experience working full-time at a dental professorial rank at a dental education program developing and implementing strategic direction and vision, supervision of multiple teams, operational planning, performance management, and budget development and management, establishing a culture focused on customer service and continuous quality improvement
Excellent strategic and management skills
Knowledge of dental education and curriculum, outcomes-based education; pedagogy; student assessment; the accreditation system in the US; education quality standards; the contemporary practice of dentistry; trends and innovations in dental education and dental practice
Ability to analyze data on dental education and dental practice, identify and communicate trends and innovations
Manage a diverse, highly skilled team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Some evening/weekend work
Travel 20-50%
Nice to Have:
Knowledge about the state of international dental education, quality assurance, and practice
Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals
Experience and interaction with the CODA accreditation process from the dental education perspective and/or as a CODA site visitor/volunteer
Understanding of ADA governance and the governance relationship between the ADA and CODA
Understanding of the US accreditation system and in particular, the US Department of Education accreditation agency recognition process.
