Job Description
Position Summary: Performs and oversees the full range of dental treatment activities and procedures associated with the specific specialty area to ensure appropriate dental health standards and practices are maintained for patients.
Critical Tasks:
Provides comprehensive dental examinations and diagnoses of patients through use of medical history, radiographs, and other appropriate tests.
Diagnoses and treats diseases, injuries, and malformation of teeth or oral structures within scope of clinical privileges.
Prescribes medications for control of infection, pain, viral, bacterial, and fungal infections.
Reviews medical histories and records dental treatments in medical charts to ensure proper and timely documentation.
Examines teeth and conducts oral radiographs to develop a plan of care to restore and maintain teeth.
Reviews established plan of care with patient or patientââ¬â¢s family to ensure understanding.
Performs a variety of restorative and corrective procedures specific to specialty area.
Administers topical and local anesthesia while monitoring patientââ¬â¢s reactions.
Takes appropriate actions and pre-cautions to ensure ongoing patient safety.
Provides instructions in oral hygiene and methods/practices to prevent spread of oral diseases.
Provides guidance and direction to Dental Assistants, Hygienists, and other support staff.
Responds to and provides emergency treatment of teeth and oral surfaces resulting from trauma, pain, and infection.
Participates in the evaluation and verification of employee performance through review of completed work assignments and work techniques to ensure adherence with established practice, methods, and procedures.
Works collaboratively with other medical and specialty areas of dentistry to discuss and obtain consultative services for cases requiring a multi-disciplinary approach.
Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
Current and valid United States license to practice dentistry required.
Current and valid Arizona State dentistry license required within one year of hire.
Graduation from an accredited program of study by the American Dental Association required.
American Dental Association approved clinical residency program in specialty area required.
Board Certification preferred. Current and valid basic CPR designation required within 30 days of hire.
