Job Description
Summary
This part-time position provides patient care in all phases of general dentistry including the diagnosis, prevention, education, and treatment of oral health disease and provides oversight to dental staff in accordance with the Dental Board of California guidelines.
Essential Functions
Treats soft and hard tissues diseases of the oral cavity and performs surgery on oral tissues when necessary and appropriate
Renders prosthetic treatment when approved and indicated
Provides appropriate dental services to restore the oral health of the patient
Provides clinical direction to the dental staff, including the Dental Hygienist, Registered Dental Assistant and Dental Assistant
Provides direct dental services to patients and maintains timely and accurate records in the electronic health record
Consults with the patients and advises them of their dental status, prescribes the treatment required, provides risks and alternatives and documents according to department, company, state, and federal agency guidelines
Cleans, restores, extracts, and replaces teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical equipment
Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed
Refers treatment to specialists when appropriate and in consultation with the Dental Director
Treats emergency same-day/walk in patients as needed
Accepts and fulfills delegated assignments to aid in the successful operation of the dental clinic from the Dental Director
Stays current on dental technology, techniques, and other dental practice modalities and treatments and attends continuing dental education courses as required
Fulfills the Dental Board of California requirements for licensure.
Completes and maintains privileging and credentialing in the Health Center.
Assures on time completion of assigned training and policies.
Maintains a professional demeanor at all times at work.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)
California Dental License and in good standing.
At least 3 years dental care experience.
At least 1 year dental care experience using an electronic health record.
Intermediate user of MS office.
Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be granted where appropriate
