General Statement of Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direct supervision of the Dental Assistant Supervisor, the Certified Dental Assistant will be responsible for assisting the dentist using four-handed dentistry, taking x-rays using a digital sensor as well as film x-rays when necessary, escorting patients, making appointments, and handling phone calls, maintaining supplies in the operatory, cleaning equipment, pouring models, assisting with clerical functions, and assuming other duties as necessary and other tasks assigned by the Dental Assistant Supervisor. Must alternate work schedule and have Saturday availability.
General knowledge of computer-based dental practice management software is required since scheduling and maintaining patient appointment functions as well as digital x-rays will be done in Dentrix Ascend.Qualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalency and Dental Assistant Certification from an accredited dental assistant training program are required. At least two years of experience as a certified dental assistant beyond certification.Job duties and responsibilities include:- Provides chairside four-handed dentistry and all tasks under the title of a certified dental assistant- Greets patients and provides assistance to patients when needed- Taking digital radiographs- Work with the Dental Director/Supervisor to maintain supply inventory system, which includes the monitoring and replacement of stock in supply room and operatories.- Work with Dental Director/Supervisor in the coordination of dental lab cases from placement of an order to the reconciliation of monthly billing statements in accordance with established written procedures.- Assist in the orientation and training of new Dental Assistants.- Appointment control and management of patients in Dentrix Ascend- Confirming and rescheduling patient appointments- Works with administrative and professional staff, dental assistants, and fellow clerical receptionists to provide ancillary support for the treatment of patients at the dental center.- Assumes other duties as necessary- All other tasks assigned by the Dental Assistant Supervisor/Director/Admin
