Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Orthodontic and Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in both pediatric and orthodontic settings, a strong commitment to patient care, and a desire to contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the orthodontist and pediatric dentist during a variety of treatment procedures.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment for dental procedures.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays).
Ensure patient comfort and provide clear instructions before, during, and after procedures.
Maintain accurate patient records and update charts as necessary.
Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
Manage inventory and order dental supplies as needed.
Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
Qualifications:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a dental assistant, with specific experience in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.
Proficient in taking and developing dental radiographs and ITERO scans.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well with children and adolescents.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of dental software and computer skills.
Specific Skills:
Proficiency in Orthodontic Procedures: Ability to assist with the placement and removal of braces, archwire adjustments, and fitting of orthodontic appliances.
Pediatric Dental Care: Expertise in managing the unique needs of pediatric patients, including behavior management techniques and administering nitrous oxide sedation.
Dental Impressions and Models: Skilled in taking accurate itero scan impressions for orthodontic and pediatric procedures.
Oral Health Education: Ability to effectively educate children and their parents on oral hygiene practices and dietary recommendations.
Infection Control: Strict adherence to infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
Dental Charting: Accurate and thorough dental charting and documentation skills.
Patient Management Software: Proficiency in using dental practice management software for scheduling, charting, and patient communication.
Emergency Management: Ability to respond calmly and effectively to dental emergencies and unexpected situations.
