About Position: The Staff Dentist functions as a practitioner of general dentistry. Assists in the coordination of all dental staff members in the delivery of dental care. Assists in the development of systematic procedures. Provides on-the-job supervision for dental staff.
Work Location: Prospect Hill
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm
Travel: Local travel to and from dental center sites, and out of the area travel for conferences or meetings occasionally.
Duties/ Responsibilities ââ¬â
Examine diagnoses, counsels and treats patients of all ages. Does clinical treatment using appropriate methods of pain control:
Restoration (fillings) of teeth.
Replacement of missing teeth.
Endodontic (nerve) treatments.
Periodontal (gum) treatments.
Limited orthodontics (braces).
Prophylactic treatment.
Removal of teeth.
Coordinates activities in the counseling and treatment of patients with feedback from staff to the Dental Director.
Assists in the training of Dental Assistants.
Utilizes as completely as possible the Dental Assistant in the counseling and treatment of patients
Participates in community health programs. Confers and relates to other departments as necessary.
Performs any other duties as assigned or needed
Arranges and conducts regular meetings of dental clinical staff. Provides on-site, day-to-day dental clinical supervision of staff
Coordinates dental programs and services needs with other components, goals and activities of the overall PHS program
Represents dental program management in health center administrative meetings and, under the supervision of the CEO, in Community and Board Meetings.
Maintains advice and consent functions regarding the responsibilities and privileges of ancillary (e.g., laboratory, x-ray, and pharmacy) services.
Schedules dental assignment rotations and leave as necessary to ensure continuous dental services.
Institutes and manages continuing professional education, in-service training, and orientation of clinical staff
Participates in the development of health risk management protocols. Institutes efficient mechanisms for purchase and maintenance of dental supplies and equipment.
Performs any other duties as assigned or needed.
Qualifications ââ¬â
Education: Graduate of the School of Dentistry recognized by the Council on Education American Dental Association
Required:
Preferred: Microsoft Office, email/internet and ability to learn other healthcare related software.
Current/valid License: Licensed to practice dentistry in North Carolina.
Immunizations: All PHS Required immunizatins/ annual Flu Vaccine
Pay Range - $133,998.00 - $155,340.00
