Position Summary:
As a Dental Assistant at the College of Dental Medicine (CODM), you'll play a vital role in our bustling dental practice. Your day will be a dynamic blend of office management, laboratory tasks, sterilization, and patient care. Youââ¬â¢ll be right there with our dentists and dental residents, lending a helping hand during both general and specialized treatments, as well as during our simulation activities.
Think of it as being the essential support that keeps everything running smoothly, ensuring our patients receive top-notch care and our dental team can focus on what they do best. Your work will make a real difference in the lives of our patients and contribute to the education of future dental professionals.
Essential Functions:
Assist dentists and dental residents in provision of dental care to patients with four-handed dentistry.
Expose dental radiographs utilizing either standard or digital radiology equipment.
Maintain dental supply inventory of equipment, instruments, and supplies.
Contribute to the operation of the Sterilization and Dispensary Inventory System.
Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments and equipment used in the dental clinics.
Maintain and perform basic repairs to dental and laboratory equipment; report major malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
Check out and distribute instruments and equipment to dentists and dental residents using the university instrument tracking system.
Handle and dispose of sharps or hazardous materials according to established University, State, and federal OSHA standards.
Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
Reliable and timely with an expectation of 40+ hours per week on site.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited dental assistant program and minimum one year of work experience as a dental assistant preferred, or any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.
Experience with different digital radiographic formats.
X-ray Certification
A clean driving record is required.
