Job Title: Dental Assistant
Department: Dental Clinic
Reports To: Chief Clinical Officer / Lead Dentist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary: The Dental Assistant is responsible for general clinic administrative work and maintenance, as well as completing lab work under the direction of the Dentist.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
1. The primary responsibility is to prepare the examination rooms for appointments, by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for the dentist.
2. Assist the dentist during their procedures by handing them instruments and anticipating their needs throughout the appointment.
3. Responsible for greeting patients as they arrive, taking payments and scheduling the patientâs next appointment before they leave the clinic.
4. The dental assistant will also be required to review medical history and take radiographs ordered by the dentist.
5. Maintain necessary immunizations.
6. Must be bilingual in Spanish to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking patients.

Education/Experience:
Required: High School Graduate or GED required. CPR Certification required.
Additional/Preferred Experience: Completed course of training as a Certified Dental Assistant.
TSBDE RDA Certification required.
Language Ability: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; Ability to document, with clarity, all information relevant to a patientâs needs; Ability to effectively present information in small group situations to patients, Clinic staff, and the general public. Must be bilingual in Spanish.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use office equipment including but not limited to computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers.
Travel and Standard Work Schedule: Standard hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position is sometimes responsible for working hours outside of the standard work schedule. Some travel may be required to other TOMAGWA clinic sites in the area.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extensive periods of time. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Ability to work with a moderate noise level in the work environment is required.
