What You’ll Do
Your role will be essential in providing top-notch orthodontic and pediatric dental care, including:

Orthodontics:
Assisting with braces adjustments, including placement and removal of brackets, archwires, elastics, and other orthodontic appliances.
Providing chairside support during appliance fittings, ensuring patient comfort and understanding throughout the process.
Fabricating and maintaining orthodontic appliances, such as retainers, space maintainers, and aligners, with precision and attention to detail.
Pediatric Dentistry:
Chairside assistance for cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and restorations.
Chairside assistance for a variety of procedures, including cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, cavity treatments, and restorations.
Ensuring kids and families feel comfortable by explaining procedures in a child-friendly and reassuring manner.
Managing behavioral needs with a compassionate, patient-first approach, including supporting children with special healthcare needs.
Patient Care:
Preparing treatment rooms and equipment for procedures in compliance with OSHA and CDC sterilization standards.
Taking high-quality x-rays and maintaining accurate records in compliance with HIPAA.
Reinforcing the treatment plan prescribed by the dentist or orthodontist.
Ensuring a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining proper sterilization of instruments and equipment.
Team Collaboration:
Promoting teamwork and supporting your colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
Participating in office events, school visits, and community outreach.

We’re looking for a nimble, proactive Dental Assistant who’s excited to wear many hats and contribute to the success of our growing office.
In addition to clinical duties, you may assist with front desk tasks, help develop office systems, and support marketing efforts, insurance verifications, or other administrative needs during quieter moments. Your ability to adapt, take initiative, and find ways to support the team will make a huge difference in creating an efficient, welcoming, and thriving environment for our patients and staff.

Physical Demands

This role requires regular communication, including talking and hearing, as well as frequent standing, walking, and using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and equipment. Employees may also need to reach with their arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or occasionally climb or balance. Prolonged sitting and manual dexterity are necessary to operate dental tools and equipment accurately.
Specific physical requirements include the ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees may also be exposed to workplace conditions involving moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, or other environmental factors associated with dental care settings.

What We’re Looking For
Our ideal candidate is a skilled, experienced, and energetic dental assistant who:

High School diploma or GED
CPR/BLS Certification
Has a team-player mindset—leave egos at the door!
Communicates effectively with kids, parents, and colleagues.
Maintains a professional and punctual work ethic while bringing positivity to the office.

Preferred Qualifications:

2+ Years as a Dental Assistant. Experience in pediatric dentistry or orthodontics is a plus, but we’re happy to train the right candidate!
Active X-ray certification in North Carolina, compliant with North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners (NCBDE) regulations
Completion of a Dental Assisting program
Nitrous Oxide Monitoring Certification (N2O)
Coronal Polishing Certification
Familiarity with OSHA standards, infection control practices, and sterilization protocols
Knowledge of dental anatomy, dental terminology, procedures and instruments
Software Proficiency: Experience with Ortho2 Edge Practice Management Software or similar systems is a bonus.
