Chief Purpose of the Position
VCU Dental Care has a unique opportunity with our Graduate Periodontics department. Are you a Dental Assistant looking for growth? At VCU Dental Care we are looking for a Dental Assistant with the interest in being trained as a Surgical Dental Assistant. We would provide you with on the job training as well as the opportunity to receive reimbursement after successful completion of the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification.
The Dental Assistant supports dental care delivery by: preparing the treatment room, patient instruments and materials; performing standard infection control procedures; taking necessary x-rays as delegated by the treating Resident dentist; scribe for resident and or staff as needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required

Knowledge of dental procedures, dental self-care, utilization of materials, equipment, instruments and supplies
Knowledge of standard infection control protocols
Knowledge of daily preventive maintenance of dental instruments, equipment and accessories
Basic computer knowledge
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability and willingness to participate in a surgical dental environment
Ability to obtain their Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to consistently deliver high level of customer service

Education level and experience required:

Dental Assistant 2 years experience required
CPR certification preferred
X-Ray certification required
High School diploma or equivalent required

Hiring Range: commensurate with experience
