Position Overview: The Pediatric EFDA plays a key role in providing comprehensive dental care for children. This position involves assisting dentists during procedures, performing expanded clinical functions as permitted under Pennsylvania law, and creating a positive, educational, and engaging environment for pediatric patients.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Provide age-appropriate communication and education to pediatric patients and their parents.
Ensure children feel comfortable during dental visits and understand treatment plans.
Assist in behavior management techniques for young or nervous patients. Chairside Assisting:
Assist the dentist during a variety of pediatric dental procedures.
Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
Prepare and set up equipment, instruments, and materials for patient care.
Place sealants, fillings, and temporary crowns under the supervision of a dentist.
Apply topical fluoride and other preventive treatments. Administrative Duties:
Record patient notes in compliance with HIPAA standards.
Manage dental inventory and supplies related to pediatric care.
Schedule appointments and follow up with families as needed. Team Collaboration:
Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and office staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
Contribute to a positive team environment focused on pediatric patient care.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Licensing/Certification:
Pennsylvania EFDA license required.
Radiology certification.
Education/Experience:
Completion of an accredited EFDA training program.
Experience in pediatric dentistry preferred.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills with children and parents.
Proficiency in dental software and charting systems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy pediatric environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and move for extended periods.
Dexterity for handling small instruments.
Schedule:
Full-time or part-time, depending on office needs.
