Examples of Duties
Under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist, assists and participates in the dental care of patients and in public health dentistry programs.
Under supervision, assists dentists in the direct care of patients in clinics, schools, and County dental facilities. Assists in the practice of four-handed dentistry. Assists in the administration of various dental referral programs.
Prepares patients for dental examinations. Places and exposes radiographs. Provides oral hygiene instruction to patients.
Prepares and maintains dental supplies, instruments, laboratory impressions, appliances, and equipment according to established standards. Sets up and closes out clinic rooms.
Schedules, receives, and collects fees from patients. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of dental records, files, and reports.
Examples of Other Duties Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications
Required Qualifications Graduation from a recognized dental assistant program OR two years experience assisting in direct dental patient care. Licenses and Certificates Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board as qualified in general duties OR recognition by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners as qualified in general duties is required at the time of appointment. Certification by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners to practice dental radiation technology is required at the time of appointment. Possession of an approved CPR certification is required at the time of appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a noncommercial, class C Maryland driver's license is required at the time of appointment. Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicantââ¬â¢s major field of study. Copies and unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Failure to submit proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education will result in your application not being considered. Incumbents may be required to travel to sites throughout Baltimore County. Duties may expose incumbents to various bio-medical hazards. Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
