Physical Requirements:
The employee is regularly required to move, stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and smell. The physical movements and the degree of mobility associated with the practice of dentistry will be performed on a repetitive basis. Excellent eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. The employee occasionally must lift and/or move up to
25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Excellent aural ability in an environment with multiple noise and activity. Ability to tolerate bright overhead lights and noise of dental equipment. Occupational risk with exposure to communicable diseases, blood and/or body fluids, exposure to chemicals, injury from sharp and delicate equipment, radiation exposure, and other conditions common to a clinical environment may routinely be encountered.
Qualifications:
Valid license to practice dentistry in the State of West Virginia as issued by the WV Board of Dentistry.
Basic Function:
Provide clinical dental services and preventive dental care in a community health care setting. Dental providers are expected to manage all patients and conditions within the scope of their training and approved privileges.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops a plan of care for each patient, including complete medical and dental history, a dental examination, diagnosis of any pathology or injury, appropriate treatment, and referral when necessary.
Confers with consulting dentists and/or primary care providers, the patient or patient's guardian concerning treatment and care.
Examines patient to determine nature of condition.
Cleans teeth and provides preventive dental services to patient, such as applications of fluoride and sealants to teeth.
Performs appropriate treatment to patients including operative procedures, extractions, root canal therapy, along with fixed and removable prosthetics.
