Job Description
JOB TITLE: Dental Assistant II DEPARTMENT: Dental Health Services FLSA: Full-Time; Hourly/Non-Exempt DURATION: Open Until Filled Position Purpose The Dental Assistant (DA) II supports dental care delivery by prepping treatment rooms, patients, instruments, and materials. In this role, you will perform minor dental procedures in compliance with the Dental Practice Act. This includes assisting dentists and hygienists with procedures by passing instruments and materials. You will occasionally coordinate community outreach programs and activities by working with culturally diverse, underserved children and families and bringing community awareness to OICââ¬â¢s dental programs for all ages. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform minor routine procedures to include suture removal.
Perform mouth mirror inspection of the oral cavity.
Chart existing restorations or conditions.
Perform patient follow-up treatments.
Expose and evaluate radiographs.
Provide patient preventive education and oral hygiene instruction.
Demonstrate understanding of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or completed necessary on-the-job training for DA I designation. Completion of Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) from an accredited dental assisting program or one academic year or longer in a CODA-accredited dental hygiene program or completion of two years of full-time employment/work experience as a chairside assistant (3,000 hours). Must hold a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or obtain within 90 days of hire. Bilingual preferred. HIRING RANGE: $16 to $25/hour BENEFITS:
