Position Overview:We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dental team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality oral healthcare services. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in dental hygiene practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to promoting optimal oral health for patients.
Responsibilities:
1. Dental Cleanings and Assessments:
Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and root planing.
Evaluate patients' oral health by assessing their gum condition, charting periodontal measurements, and identifying signs of disease.
Remove plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth surfaces.
2. Patient Education:
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and nutrition.
Provide personalized recommendations for maintaining good oral health.
Demonstrate proper brushing and flossing techniques to patients.
3. Preventive Care:
Apply fluoride treatments and dental sealants to help prevent tooth decay.
Administer local anesthetics and nitrous oxide as needed for comfort during procedures.
Take dental X-rays to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
4. Oral Health Assessment:
Conduct oral cancer screenings and identify abnormal tissue conditions.
Assess patients' overall oral health and communicate findings to the dentist for further evaluation.
5. Patient Records and Documentation:
Accurately record patient information, including medical history and treatment details.
Document treatment plans, procedures performed, and patient progress.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate with the dentist to develop treatment plans and discuss patient care strategies.
Effectively communicate with patients about treatment options, procedures, and oral health goals.
7. Infection Control and Safety:
Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
Follow established guidelines for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
8. Continuing Education:
Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in dental hygiene practices.
Attend seminars, workshops, and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
Current state dental hygiene license and in good standing.
Strong knowledge of dental hygiene techniques, periodontal disease, and preventive care.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and dental team members.
Proficiency in using dental software for patient documentation and record-keeping.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
