Job Title: Independent Contractor Dentist - Oral Appliance Therapy for Sleep Disorders
Location: Arlington, Bethesda, Germantown, and possibly the Lansdowne office
Job Type:  Independent Contractor / Part-Time / Full-Time
Compensation: Fixed Fee for Each Oral Appliance Impression/Adjustment/Delivery
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated independent contractor dentist to join our team in providing effective oral appliance therapy for patients with sleep disorders, specifically obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-related breathing issues. The ideal candidate will have experience in or a willingness to learn about the treatment of sleep apnea and snoring with custom-made oral appliances. This role is ideal for a dentist who values patient care, is committed to improving quality of life, and is looking for a flexible, contractor-based position with opportunities to grow and expand in the field of sleep medicine.
Key Responsibilities:

Assess and Diagnose:  Perform comprehensive evaluations of patients with suspected or diagnosed sleep disorders, including reviewing medical histories and collaborating with sleep physicians or specialists when necessary.
Oral Appliance Therapy:  Design, fit, and monitor custom oral appliances for the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, snoring, and other sleep-related breathing disorders. This includes conducting follow-up visits to ensure effectiveness and comfort of the appliance.
Collaboration:  Work closely with other healthcare providers, including sleep specialists and primary care doctors, to ensure integrated care for patients with sleep disorders.
Patient Education: Educate patients on the benefits and proper use of oral appliances, including maintenance instructions, care tips, and lifestyle recommendations to support better sleep health.
Record Keeping:  Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, treatment plans, and progress reports in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Continuous Learning:  Stay updated on the latest developments in sleep medicine, oral appliance therapy, and related treatments to ensure the best patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school.
Active Virginia and Maryland state dental license in good standing.
Experience or Interest in Sleep Medicine:  Previous experience in treating sleep disorders (OSA, snoring) with oral appliances is a plus. If no prior experience, a willingness to pursue training and certification in dental sleep medicine is required.
Strong Communication Skills:  Ability to effectively communicate with patients and healthcare providers about treatment options and follow-up care.
Detail-Oriented:  Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly with patient records, treatment plans, and follow-ups.
Independent Contractor Status:  Ability to work independently, manage scheduling, and follow through with patient care while maintaining flexibility as an independent contractor.
