Job Summary: As a Dental Hygienist at our practice, you will play a crucial role in providing top-tier preventive care and patient education. You will work closely with our dentist and team to ensure that every patient receives personalized, comprehensive care. Your role will involve performing routine cleanings, periodontal treatments, taking x-rays, and delivering an exceptional patient experience. You will also be responsible for a range of clinical tasks designed to provide the best care and ensure the office runs smoothly. This is an assisted hygiene position.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Provide thorough and gentle dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, polishing, and fluoride treatments. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and the importance of preventive care.
Examinations and Assessments:
Review and update medical history including vitals for each patient.
Take radiographs as needed, review them with the patient, and provide education regarding findings.
Perform extraoral and intraoral exams to assess overall oral health.
Conduct perio charting if due, or spot probing as necessary. Review and educate patients on periodontal readings.
Perform a Caries Risk Assessment, document findings, and ensure proper documentation.
Offer home care recommendations based on findings and any necessary treatments.
Use a shade guide to offer potential take-home whitening.
Assist the Doctor in taking intra and extra-oral photographs as requested
Prophylaxis and Periodontal Maintenance Treatment (PMT): Perform scaling, polishing, and flossing. Provide brushing and flossing instructions using a mirror. Must be able and registered to provide local anesthesia when required.
Patient Interaction: Build positive relationships with patients, making them feel cared for, comfortable, and informed about their treatment options. Address patient concerns with empathy and professionalism.
Administrative Duties:
Type detailed notes in Dentrix after each appointment.
Collaborate with the Office Manager to ensure all necessary codes are correct and ready for the next dayââ¬â¢s charts.
Assist with the breakdown and setup of the operatory for the next patient when necessary.
Ensure rigorous infection control and sterilization protocols are followed.
Help out all other team members with their tasks, demonstrating strong teamwork.
Office Support: Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth patient flow and a harmonious office environment. Assist with scheduling, record-keeping, and inventory management as needed.

Qualifications
÷ Education: Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program and a current state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
÷ Bachelors degree (Preferred)
÷ Dentrix experience (Preferred)
÷ Dexis Experience (Preferred)
÷ Previous clinical experience(Preferred)
÷ Ability to work expanded schedule(Preferred)
