Job Description

Position Summary
While the roles of an endodontist assistant may be similar to a general dental assistant, responsibilities may include performing x-rays and assisting before, during and after a root canal. During these procedures, you may clean the patients mouth, pass instruments to the dentist, and/or monitor the patients wellbeing and comfort. Assistants gather information about each patients history, preparing them for and assisting with treatment and are supporters for the best outcomes among patients and dentists.
Work Hours/Shift: Must have availability Monday-Friday 7am-7pm (8hr, 10hr and 12hr shifts)
Travel: Some local travel and flexibility are required
Working Conditions/Physical Conditions

Standing 98%.
Sitting 2%.
Moderate noise levels from dental equipment.
Dental office setting.
Minimum moving requirements of 35 pounds in order to transfer equipment and pack and unpack supplies.
Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes in order to examine and service patients.
Potential occupational exposure to trace amounts of nitrous oxide and/or x-rays.

Dental Assistant Responsibilities:

Prepare patients for treatment.
Assist the dentist in patient treatment to keep patients as comfortable as possible throughout their dental visit.
Take dental radiographs (x-rays)
Obtain current dental records and update records.
Set up and organize instruments.
Pass instruments to dentist in proper orientation
Keep dentists operating field clear.
Patient education and instructions as directed by the dentist.
Perform disinfection and sterilization procedures.
Equipment care and maintenance
Using and maintaining hazard control protocols as established by OSHA and office standards.
Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedule and office policies.
Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings.
Occasionally there may be some travel, by car or plane, required in order to participate in continuing education or seminars.

Must be detail oriented in order to work efficiently
Must be flexible and understand that job duties may change from time to time and that this individual may be asked to assist in other areas of the office.
Must excel in forward thinking in order to anticipate the needs of the doctor as well as the patient.
