Job Description

We are looking for a true team player to join our friendly, close-knit, and energetic staff! We are a well-established, private practice located in downtown Carlsbad that believes in quality and ethical dental care for our patients and our community. We are looking for an experienced hygienist wtih a calm and friendly demeanor for a 24-hour work week (Tuesday-Thursday 8-hour days) seeing 8 patients a day (we always allow for a full hour with each patient to allow our hygienists to do a quality job and develop rapport with their patients). 

Responsibilities

• Perform dental hygiene procedures, including cleaning, scaling, and polishing teeth, and perform injections when necessary
• Take digital x-rays
• Conduct oral cancer screenings
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques and provide personalized oral health care instructions
• Maintain accurate patient records using Patterson Eaglesoft Dental Software
• Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff
• Apply fissure sealants and topical fluoride to help prevent tooth decay
• Help to input and prioritize treatment plans for patients after doctor diagnosis; and being able to effectively communicate/educate patients on these recommendations
• Develop rapport with our patients and help to create a positive patient experience

Skills

• Must have hygiene license and be CPR certified
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and dental team members
• Proficiency in Eaglesoft
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and detailed patient records
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for performing dental procedures
• Ability to educate patients on oral health care practices and answer their questions and address their concerns
• Be a team player
• At least one year hygiene experience
