Job Description
GENERAL FUNCTION
Responsible for assisting dentist in the examination and treatment of patients, maintaining patient charts, and performing related duties involved in the maintenance of dental instruments, equipment, and supplies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the dental treatment of patients to include seating patients, providing dentist with instruments and equipment, mixing filling and impression materials, and chart examination notes.
Clean, sterilize and assemble instrument trays, supplies and equipment required for specific dental procedures.
Assist in the preparation of cast models by preparing required materials, taking impression of teeth, and pouring and trimming models.
Take, develop and mount intra and extra oral radiographs used in diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Instruct patients in the care of teeth and appliances; provide instructional materials as required. Record treatment results on patient's dental record.
Schedule and confirm appointments, greet patients, and process dental records as required.
Requisition supplies and equipment.
Perform routine maintenance on instruments and equipment.
Assist in the training of new employees.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Hours:
Tuesday 1:00 to 6:00 pm
Thursday 1:00 to 5:00 pm
Friday 1:00 to 5:00 pm or 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Occasional Saturday hours may be required
SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: Executive Director
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School education.
REQUIRED: One year of dental assisting experience OR completion of an approved dental assistant course.
Bilingual (Spanish speaking) a plus, but not required.
