Job Description
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday 8:45am to 5/5:15pm and 2 Friday's per month through 3:30pm. We will also consider someone looking for part-time if the days desired matched the office needs.
Purpose and Scope
As a community based practice looking to ensure all children have the ability to receive dental care regardless of any reason, the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant will routinely assist Kids Smiles Dentists in the care of patients and in related office work. S/he will be responsible for keeping records, managing clerical detail and providing diagnosis aids to the dentists. The EFDA will perform clinical supportive functions including preparing and dismissing patients as well as various dental treatments and laboratory tasks. The EFDA will perform expanded duties as permitted by each state.
Job Responsibilities for the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
Receive patients and prepare them for necessary dental procedures;
Prepare for dental treatment with correct instruments and material ready for use as directed by operator;
Record findings from oral examination;
During oral examination or treatment, the EFDA provides instruments and dispense materials as directed by operator;
Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing general or local anesthesia;
Performs expanded duties as permitted by state license including but not limited to:
Placing fillings
Administering Sealants
Performing Prophys on eligible patients
Other duties to be determined
Clear the patient's mouth of saliva or dental materials used in the treatment by operating handheld suction or air and water-spraying equipment;
Mix amalgam and synthetic fillings material according to instructions
Clean and sterilize the instruments used after treatment, clean and tidy the surgery and implement standard decontamination procedures for infection control;
Exposes and processes x-ray film as directed by the dentist;
Maintain and re-stock dental supplies;
Perform routine care and maintenance of dental equipment and instruments;
Required Experiences and Skills for the Expanded Functions Dental Assistant
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Must possess a current and valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania license.
X-RAY certification, required.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good organizational ability and time management skills.
The ability to fill in at other offices, when needed, will also be required.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
