Job Description:
As a Dental Surgical Assistant at Piney Point Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, you will play a crucial role in supporting our dental surgical team. You will work closely with oral surgeons and other dental professionals to ensure seamless and efficient surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to work well with medical staff, patients, and their families. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Preoperative Preparation:
÷ Set up and prepare surgical tray, instruments,
÷ and equipment.
÷ Assist in sterilization procedures to maintain a clean and safe surgical environment.
÷ Greet and prepare patients for surgery, addressing any concerns or questions.
÷ Set up and monitor IV sedation under the direction of the oral surgeon.
Intraoperative Support:
÷ Provide assistance during dental surgeries.
÷ Pass instruments and materials to the oral surgeon as needed.
÷ Ensure the comfort and well-being of the patient throughout the procedure.
÷ Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
Postoperative Care:
÷ Assist in postoperative care and instructions for patients.
÷ Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment after procedures.
÷ Manage and update patient records accurately.
Collaboration:
÷ Work closely with the dental team to coordinate patient care.
÷ Communicate effectively with patients, addressing their concerns and questions.
÷ Collaborate with other dental assistants and administrative staff to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Qualifications:
Work experience is preferred but not necessary to join us; if you are willing to learn, we are eager to train
÷ High school diploma or equivalent.
÷ Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen successfully
÷ Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
÷ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
÷ Current CPR and BLS certification is a plus
÷ X-ray certification is a plus
÷ Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols. (preferred)
÷ Completion of a dental assisting program or relevant certification. (preferred)
÷ Previous experience as a dental surgical assistant with a focus on oral surgery and IV sedation. (preferred)
÷ DAANCE certification (Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination) (preferred)
