Job Description
Busy dental practice in Kingston, NY looking for a responsible, hard-working, flexible individual to work as a dental assistant. Must be willing to partner with the dentists, work harmoniously as part of the total dental team for the benefit of the patient and the practice. The individual will be responsible for direct patient duties associated with 4-handed dentistry: assisting dentist in providing hygiene, periodontal or dental care and treatment, treatment planning with the dentist and various non-patient administrative duties.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly assisting the dentists and hygienists during the performance of their duties
Effectively exposing digital dental radiographs using the Dexis system while providing proper shielding of patients
Digital scanning using the iTero system to record and send digital records for labs.
Recording dental findings on the dental chart utilizing the Dentrix software system and reviewing a comprehensive medical history
Scheduling a dental treatment plan as directed by dentist
Obtaining any medical consultations that are indicated
Providing oral and overall health care education and instruction to patients
Advising patients regarding dental health practices
Maintenance of our continuing care (recall) system
Sterilization and proper set-up of dental instruments
Inventory control, material order placement and stocking
Sterilization and preparation of trays
Preparation, mailing and management of lab cases
Preparing and electronically sending written communications with related health care professionals
Ensuring that all patients, visitors, guests and co-workers receive personalized prompt attention and are treated with dignity, respect and utmost confidentiality
Maintaining a full schedule to ensure optimal financial practice performance by utilizing systems of reminders and call lists
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Good planning and organizational skills
Computer literacy
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Professional appearance and manner
Ability to lift 15-20 lbs
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Certification, or plans to achieve certification
Knowledge of Electronic Medical/Dental Records (Dentrix system) and Digital (Dexis) Radiography
Must possess good time management skills. Be being punctual to office and with patient schedule
Should have good eye sight, manual dexterity and be in good physical condition
Possess a willingness to learn and adapt to changes
Have a high dental IQ and a positive attitude towards the important work we do as holistic dentists
OSHA, CPR and infection control courses current
HepB vaccinated
Must have good judgment and decision making abilities, ability to calm nervous patients, great listening, verbal and written communication skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
