Job Description
Overview:As a Lead Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the dental office while providing exceptional patient care. You will lead a team of dental assistants, coordinating their activities to optimize efficiency and productivity within the practice. Your expertise in chairside assisting, patient communication, and administrative tasks will contribute to the overall success of the dental clinic.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
Supervise and train dental assistant staff, providing guidance on best practices and ensuring adherence to protocols.
Schedule and coordinate staff shifts to maintain adequate coverage and optimize workflow.
Conduct regular team meetings to discuss protocols, address concerns, and foster a positive work environment.
Chairside Assistance:
Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Prepare treatment rooms with appropriate instruments, equipment, and materials.
Sterilize instruments and maintain cleanliness and organization in treatment areas according to infection control standards.
Patient Care and Communication:
Greet patients warmly and ensure their comfort before, during, and after dental procedures.
Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, post-operative care instructions, and treatment plans.
Communicate effectively with patients to address their concerns, answer questions, and alleviate anxieties.
Administrative Duties:
Manage patient records, including updating medical histories, treatment plans, and insurance information.
Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits, coordinating with the front desk staff as needed.
Assist with billing, coding, and processing insurance claims accurately and efficiently.
Equipment Maintenance and Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain dental equipment, ensuring proper functionality and safety.
Order dental supplies and materials, keeping inventory levels adequate and within budgetary constraints.
Collaborate with the office manager to implement cost-saving measures and streamline procurement processes.
Qualifications:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent certification required.
Previous experience in a dental office setting, with demonstrated proficiency in chairside assisting and administrative tasks.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on patient care and satisfaction.
Proficiency in dental software systems for recordkeeping, scheduling, and billing.
Knowledge of infection control protocols and OSHA regulations.
Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to maintain current knowledge through continuing education and training programs.
